Braids are everywhere…we have seen them on the red carpet, on the runways, day- into- night looks, updos and for good reason-you’ll look effortless and sexy. I heart the milkmaid braids because you can wear them with jeans and a T-shirt or with a gown (believe it or not). There is only one downfall-if you dont have Rapunzel-ish hair this style isn’t going to work. I have tried out a few ways to do this fun look but Ill do my best to guide you through it…
HOW-TO-MILKMAID ‘DO: tools: Bobby Pins; Rat-tooth Comb; Anti Frizz Serum; Hairspray;rubberbands(2 at most)
Step 1: Untangle your hair(this can be done with dry or wet hair) and part your hair directly down the middle of your head with a rat-tooth comb.
Step 2: (Optional) Apply some Anti Frizz Serum (I like to use Garnier Fructise Anti Frizz Serum because it isnt heavy) from roots through to tips.
Step3: Braid one side of your hair, but braid it going in the direction of the opposite shoulder (this is so that there arents any big bumps-the braids need to lie flat on your head when they are both done) and secure the tip of the braid with a rubberband)
Step 4: Do the same to the opposite side of your hair.
Step 5: Next take both braids and going in the direction you braided them…wrap them around your head so that both tips have passed eachother(you can now remove any rubberbands).
Step 6: Now you can tuck each braids- end under the other and secure with bobby pins so that the tips of the braid do not show (if you make the shape of the letter x with your bobby pins they wont bugde all day)
Step 7: (Optional) Apply some hairspray to conceal any stray fly-aways ( I use Tresemme Frizz -Shield Finishing Spray because it doesnt leave hair stiff and sticky)
PS: I only apply hairspray for a night-out for a more polished look
We would love to hear from you…let us know what your favorite braid ‘do is!
