Face Shape & Hair Style Guide!

A  little help finding Hair Styles that match your Face Shape…
OK girlz, our mission is to choose the right hair style to fit our face shape.
Your face shape is where we will begin…

Face Measuring Guide: (Jot down your answers, of course)
You will need a measuring tape for this…

1. Measure your face across the top of your cheekbones.
2. Now measure across your jaw line from the widest point to the widest point.
3. Measure across your forehead at the widest point (this probably be in the middle of your forehead).
4. Measure from the tip of your hairline to the bottom of your chin.

Oval Face – Length equal to one and a half times width
Round Face – Your face is as wide as it is long
Oblong – Longer than it is wide
Heart – Narrow at jaw line, wide at cheekbones/and or forehead
Square – your face is about as wide as it is long.
Diamond – Widest at cheekbones, narrow forehead and jaw line of almost equal widths

Hair Type:
Now ask yourself, is my hair naturally straight, wavy, curly or kinky?

Hair Texture:
Is my hair fine, medium or thick?

Lastly, but certainly not least…
Volume:
Do you have volume or not, that is the final question ;)

And now the moment we all have been waiting for…HAIR STYLE that works with my FACE SHAPE!

Oval
Ok, so just about any hair shape looks good on you! Your “perfect”, well for almost any hairstyle that is J Go for it! Wear short, medium or long hair styles. Your face shape is “balanced”. You will even look fabulous with a slicked-backed pony-tail or bun. For Hairstyle inspiration check out what Jennifer Aniston, Courtney Cox Arquette & Tyra Banks are doing with their locks.

Rectangular or Oblong
Long & slender with the same width at forehead and just below cheekbones. May have a narrow chin or a high forehead. You are the perfect candidate for fun styles with a short to medium length. Totally go for wispy bangs, layers and side parts. You can pull off pulled back styles too. For Hairstyle inspiration check out Gwyneth Paltrow and Janet Jackson they rock it out!

Round
Fuller face with a round chin & hairline. Your widest point is at your cheeks & ears. Cute people need edgy cuts, well that is my motto, anyway! Go all out with fullness and height at the crown of your head. Off center parts are the way to go for sure. Either chop it short and sweep it back or wear it long. If you want layers make sure they are mostly on the top and keep the rest of the cut close to your face. Who doesn’t love Kate Winslet and Drew Barrymore. Look to them for style inspiration.

Square
A square jaw line & an equally square hairline. I would do short-to-medium length hair, especially with wave or roundness around the face. Bangs, wispy bangs will be fabulous on you! Off-center parts, layers and waves looks are definitely going to be your thing! If your hair is straight, buy a curling iron or some rollers and have a ball. Sandra Bullock and Demi Moore are easy on the eye ;) and a great source of inspiration for all you square girlz…

Heart
Wide at the temples and hairline, and then narrowing to a small delicate chin. Chin-length to longer styles work wonderfully with that heart shaped face of yours. Side-parted hair styles look sweet & swept-forward layers around the upper face, with some wispy bangs. A perfect face for the bob! I am a fan of dramatic cheek bones and Ashley Judd, Jennifer Love Hewitt and Claudia Schiffer are sure to be great sources of inspiration!

Triangular
Polar opposite of the heart-shape face. . . a strong jaw line with narrowing at the cheek bone & temples. Shorter hair styles that are fuller in the temple area and taper at the jaw line are perfect for triangular face shapes.  Off center parts, and shags look great on you! Think layers, layers, layers! Tucking hair behind your ears, totally works for you, and will draw attention to your eyes. Kathy Ireland know how to work it and is a great inspiration for the Triangular girl!

Diamond
A hybrid of heart face shape and a dramatic oval. Widest at the cheekbones & narrow at both the forehead and jaw line. Your face shape is proportioned and dramatic! Try everything! Most will work with your face (as long as you are a true diamond girl). You can try shorter styles and longer looks as well. As Diamonds are a girls best friend, even in the case of your face shape, you can do just about anything to that hair of yours. Check out this list of ladies for inspiration (as if these girls aren’t inspiring us in every other area too!) Katherine Hepburn, Linda Evangelista, Sophia Loren…
