Get that Job in 2010 with your Hair Style!

OK, so you worked on your resume, mastered the Q & A’s for the interview, you have the suit… Now it’s time to Get the Job and guess what your HAIR is going to play a role in whether you get that job or not! Yes, believe it or not, it matters. Jessica Simpson and Nicole Kidman look fabulous for the red carpet AND for a great new job interview!

Now-a-days when you finally get that call for the interview you really need to kick it up a notch and set yourself apart from all of the other people who have been studying on how to get a job just as much as you. I say let your hair be that determining factor. Here are some tips that I believe are sure to get you that second interview, or even nab the job right on the spot :)

Short Hair:
Just because you have a short hair cut doesn’t mean your hair should not look “done”. Take the time out to wash and DRY your hair. Do not walk out without drying your hair. No one want s to see a wet head show up for an interview. Hello, you already have a short hair cut, which means that your styling should literally take minutes. Avoid using a product that may create a wet look. Instead wash your hair, dry it and then use a pomade (every hair product company makes them) to style it!

Medium Hair:
Whether your hair is curly or straight or in between, do not wear your hair in your face. An employer may think you are trying to hide something (like your face). Instead tuck your hair behind your ears and if necessary use a couple of bobby pins to hold it there. No colorful pins, something that matches your hair, brown or black pins are ususally best, oh and don’t use ten pins, use one or two. We are not children, we are however, professionals who are confident & know how to style our hair. This means no constantly using your nervous hands to tuck your hair behind your ears.

Long Hair:
I have long hair and wear it down almost every day, except when going on an interview. That is when I place my hair in a ponytail or bun. When I have an interview, believe it or not, unless I am going for a job where I will be styling hair, my hair is pulled away from my face. I want the employer to notice my good and well practiced eye contact and not my long locks. I totally will show off my hair after I nab the job ;)

Now go out there and get that job! Oh and don’t forget to let us know what worked for you.
