I have had psoriasis since I was about 18 years old (I am now almost 31 shhh!). At first I thought I had somehow bruised my elbows, and then I realized my scalp was red too. I finally visited a dermatologist and was diagnosed with Psoriasis. At this point I had psoriasis on my elbows and on my scalp. I did some online research and found an amazing book called “Healing Psoriasis: The Natural Alternative” By: Dr. Pagano when I was about 23. I lightly followed the instructions/diet/topical treatments and amazingly the psoriasis on my elbows completely healed. This is 100% true!!!
Unfortunately, I still, as of today, have psoriasis on my scalp BUT, I recently found a fabulous shampoo, DCL Dermatologic Cosmetic Laboratories Salicylic Acid Shampoo. So far, so good and for less than $20! I mean it hasn’t made the psoriasis go away but it defiantly soothes the itch, I don’t have as much flaking as before AND believe it or not smells very good. Usually, medicated shampoos do not smell good and do not lather. This one on the contrary does (yummy coconut).
Try it out and let me know if it works for you. I purchased it online at www.askderm.com See details below.
DCL Dermatologic Cosmetic Laboratories Salicylic Acid Shampoo: A gentle exfoliating and renewing shampoo for treating dandruff and psoriasis.
Description: Salicylic Acid Shampoo effectively treats dandruff and psoriasis with gentle cleansing agents and salicylic acid. It helps to prevent dead skin cell buildup by sloughing away the dead cells. It conditions, softens and calms the scalp for a more comfortable texture and a healthier appearance. Salicylic Acid Shampoo may also be used on the chest and back to treat similar ailments. Refreshing coconut fragrance.
Recommended Use: Wet hair thoroughly, pour into palm, rub hands together and massage into scalp to form rich lather. Leave on 3-4 minutes. Rinse thoroughly. Repeat if desired, leaving on one minute. For best results use at least twice a week or as directed by a doctor. Follow with DCL Strengthening Conditioner.
