I just picked up the most recent issue of The L Magazine. For those of you who live outside of NYC, it’s a local magazine that’s free and can be easily found in your favorite cafe or bodega. Anyway, I am mentioning this because on the cover it mentions “Magical $10 Russian Haircuts” so I had to pick it up and read on. My father use to go to a Russian Barber and use to loved it!
Basically the article describes the cookie cutter styled Barbershops that are all over the city. The fact is they are Russian Barbers that give you a good basic cut for only $10. Fast, cash-only and they clean up the back of the neck with the straight razor and warm shaving cream (ooh la la). Hey us girls have the Dominican Hair Salon and the Boys have the Russian Barber shops, I call it even… You gotta love New York!
This city really offers the best of every culture, just steps from each other. Simply amazing! The article goes on to mention a “prime specimen of the Russian barbershop at 333 Park Avenue South.” Check it out and let me know where your Russian Barber Shop is.
