Tyler Wisler - Hair Evolution

“The last haircut I got was at KIWA salon on 27th Street. First time there… Not bad. My primary reason for going there was that it is basically a Japanese salon. The stylists are all Asian so they understand the difficulties/benefits to the texture of my hair. I went there because I read reviews online that they did a great jobs with perms. YES my hair has a perm in it! I think it was pretty successful! Otherwise my hair is pin straight!

I started growing out my hair in December… Prior to that it was a barber shop trim every two weeks like clockwork. Super short on the side with some length on top to play with… I actually started growing out my hair with the anticipation that I would make it in Design Star this year because I knew if I made the show I wouldn’t be able to maintain the super short look, and didn’t want to look shaggy. Is that crazy? Before I even auditioned for the show I was mentally preparing for the looks of my hair! Talk about OCD with the hair!

Johnny Depp

I have no idea what my final look is going to be… A Johnny Depp/Michael Hutchence (INXS) kind of look maybe… I want to be able to at least start pulling the top half back with an elastic. I honestly don’t know. I could watch something on TV tonight and chop it all… I’m crazy like that, and LOVE rocking different looks…

VC: The hot hair trend for the moment is a beachy but soft look with a burst of brightness towards the ends.

SBS: What is your source of inspiration?

VC: I am inspired by my place of work, Bumble and Bumble because I get to experience talent and passion though my colleagues, within that, I find my inspiration.
