Does Cutting your hair make it grow faster?

Cutting your hair will make it look and feel healthier, that’s for sure!

While getting regular trims are great to keep your hair healthy, monthly snips won’t turn you into Rapunzel

FACT: Hair grows about half an inch every month regardless of whether or not you trim it.

While cutting ends will prevent damage and encourage stronger, healthier hair, it doesn’t make it grow faster. However, healthy hair does appear longer, since you don’t see dry, damaged ends.

TIP: Visiting your salon every 8-12 weeks is definitely KEY to maintaining healthy long locks!

Psoriasis is a disease that has no cure. I use to have it on my elbows and from a modified diet and “Almond Glo” as a topical it did go away. Pregnancy Hair Dos and Don’ts

So I am pregnant…and of course along with all of the other changes my body is going through, my hair is changing too! I noticed that pregnant women don’t know what to do with their hair so I wanted to do this post to help out. Check out these Pregnancy Hair Dos and Don’ts and let me know if you have a tip that can be added.

DO:
Part your hair off to the side instead of the middle! This will slim your face.

DON’T:
Cut your hair short. Mid-length hair in long layers is best and most flattering during this time.

DO:
Get highlights instead of regular color. The highlights only touch the shaft of your hair and not your scalp.

DON’T:
Slick your hair back. Instead try a messy up-do or a pretty side pony.

DO:
Treat yourself to a fabulous blow dry/head massage as often as possible, you deserve it!!!

Men’s Cuts @ Freeman’s F.S.C. Barber

My friend Jason Lowe, decided to chop off his hair and go for a totally different look. He wanted to go to a real hair salon, instead of the weekly buzz cut he normally gets from his barber shop for $14 bucks. He googled: “Best Men’s Hair Cut NYC” and what comes up at the top??? Freeman’s F.S.C. Barber located at 5 Horatio Street (sort of hidden street, how mysterious)!

We had already heard of Freeman’s and had seen great reviews and some raving articles about the shop. Sooo, He ventured in… They are a Walk-in kinda place Jason said, it was a totally cool vibe, with barbers that are talented and tattooed.

He loved his cut ($40) and would definitely go back! Check out the website and visit this New York City, underground, gem!

Kristen Stewart definitely looked fabulous when she showed up to the London Fashion Show with her new long, black, hair! Of course sitting next to Kate Moss didn’t hurt

Being that she has captured the lead role in Snow White and the Huntsman, the hair is only part of her costume. For her upcoming movie Snow White and the Huntsman the Twilight actress is going to really look the part and maybe needed the long hair to possibly tone down and make her strong features a little more Fairy Tale-ish. Definitely a great look for her!

I love long, hair and hope more women are inspired and grow their locks our for the Fall…

The Hair Knot!

Great for looking casual chic during the day for for a night out!

Super easy-to-do:

1) First decide where you want the knot.

2) Now create a ponytail on your head in that location with a covered elastic band. Divide your ponytail in two and pull the hair taut.

3) Take a long strand from near the band and wrap it around the elastic band. Bobby pin the strand into place and this will help secure your elastic band.

4) Twist your ponytail to the right from the elastic band to the ends and wrap it around the band starting on the left side of the band.

5) Tuck the ends underneath the knot and secure the sides of the knot with small or large bobby pins, depending on the heaviness of your hair.

I call it the working girl knot… Because I throw my hair up in a knot with my nerdy glasses and get into a groove at my desk. It’s also my sloppy, chic weekend do! Sometimes I even go to bed with the knot and then let it out in the morning for some extra volume!

The Fall is here and that means kids are going back to school. My niece Ava Dilone, who is going to Kindergarden, was due for a back to school hair cut and went to her fav spot Mini Max Toys and Cuts, located at 152 Atlantic Avenue, Brooklyn, NY. Hair cuts are $22 and if you have twins the second one is half off… I thought that was cute

Ava loves the special attention she gets from her stylist, Danielle – she specializes in curly hair. Kids get to sit in a chair that looks like a car and put on their favorite cartoon and 10% off a store purchase. They use Fairy Tales hair products, which smell yummy and are made with natural ingredients. Ava uses the Coco Cabana Leave-In Sun Spray (8oz) : $10.95 is amazing for curly locks.
